The 1849-D is distinctly rare in Mint State grades and unknown finer than MS62. This high-end piece is tied with just four at this level with seven graded MS62 between NGC and PCGS. High date and low date varieties exist for the date - The present coin is a high date example, the more common of the two varieties.
