A mintage of nearly 8.5 million coins is much lower than previous issues and is likely due to the fact that the US was gearing up for the change to the Buffalo Nickel in 1913. An even rose-lavender grey color plates the surfaces and is illuminated by swirling luster. Very few blemishes are found making the viewer dream of a loftier grade.
