This very tough Civil War era gold piece struck at the San Francisco mint carries a strong pedigree from the Bass Collection. Strong underlying luster glows beneath a patina of rich orange-gold. Light, even wear is evident over the high points but nice remaining definition prevails. A single staple scratch above the eagle on the reverse is worth mention but is superseded by the luster and rarity of the piece. - Liberty Head $5
