Obverse Laureate head of Caligula right. Reverse head of Germanicus right. Certainly one of the more crisp examples we have seen. Caligula was Rome's third emperor and ruled AD 37-41. He was the son of famed Roman general Germanicus. Caligula was the sole male survivor from his family after a feud with emperor Tiberius. For some reason, however, Tiberius stayed connected to Caligula and named him successor upon his death in AD 37. Little is known about his rule, but he is attributed with the construction of two aqueducts in Rome. - Other
