Obverse Laureate head of Caligula right. Reverse head of Germanicus right. Certainly one of the more crisp examples we have seen. Caligula was Rome's third emperor and ruled AD 37-41. He was the son of famed Roman general Germanicus. Caligula was the sole male survivor from his family after a feud with emperor Tiberius. For some reason, however, Tiberius stayed connected to Caligula and named him successor upon his death in AD 37.
