A prime and popular rarity, the 1873-CC ten dollar gold piece hails from a mintage of just 4,543 coins of which fewer than 100 examples have survived in all grades. No examples in uncirculated condition survived the heavy wear that pieces from this era endured. Needless to say, this is a rare issue that is nearly impossible to find as it does not hit the market often. A truly pleasing near-XF representative awash in handsome honey-gold color with reddish accents at the borders. Luminous luster persists in the sheltered areas.
