From a scant mintage of just 11,800 pieces and none known in uncirculated, this an exceedingly rare offering. Pleasant reddish-gold coloration and nice remaining mint luster serve to bear witness to the originality of this piece. An unfortunate and very thin old pin scratch from the left obverse rim and into the portrait is worth mention but does not immediately catch the eye when viewed in hand. Bottom line: this presents what could be a once-in-a-decade chance at a very tough gold Eagle. - Liberty Head $10
