From a paltry mintage of just 6,430 pieces, the 1869-S gold Eagle is a truly scarce coin. Perhaps three or four truly uncirculated examples survive and remain in tight hands, having not been sold in many years. The present coin boasts lovely eye appeal and even, lemon gold coloration. A couple of "henpecks" keep the coin out of CAC status but are tiny and are mostly overwhelmed by the luster and rarity of the coin. - Liberty Head $10
