Ike dollars are plagued by unstruck areas and rather unsightly planchets, often displaying large marks and excessive chatter. Perhaps this is why the collector base is still so massive for what many consider to be one of the poorest U.S. coin designs. The present piece appears to be as close to perfect as we have seen for this date. Minimal chatter on the central obverse that is easily swallowed up by the luster, it is hard to imagine a finer example. PCGS reports just two finer. - Ike Dollar
