From a mintage of just 3,980 and an estimated surviving population of no more than 60 pieces extant today, the 1865 is among the scarcest No Motto Philadelphia Mint eagles. PCGS has graded only ten finer than the present offering, an already low number that is likely inflated by resubmissions, with only a single Mint State piece known. Boldly defined throughout, just a tough of light wear is noticeable at the highest points of the devices. The fields retain much of the original lustrous finish, especially so in the sheltered areas, and show only minor grade defining chatter. A blend of honey and rose-gold coloration spans both sides making for a pleasing piece worthy of a fine numismatic cabinet! - Liberty Head $10
