A meager total of 3,000 examples was struck in 1879 many of which were never distributed and melted in later years. As these seldom circulated the survival rate is high though in gem it becomes quite rare. PCGS has graded less than dozen examples finer than the present offering. Brightly lustrous surfaces radiate vibrant, flashy mint luster from both sides. The strike shows only slight inexactness on the high points of the hair. Ideal sunny yellow-golden color shines throughout adding to the fantastic eye appeal. - Three Dollar
