As he was stricken with a limp and deafness from sickness at a young age, he was mostly ignored by his family and excluded from title and position. However, since enemies of his family never saw him as a threat, this lead to him "sneaking" into position of emperor when the Praetorian Guard declared him so. History tells us he was fair and able as emperor. - Other
