1867 G$1 PCGS MS66 ex: D.L. Hansen
A very scarce gold dollar from a minor mintage of just 5,200 coins, out of which less than 200 have been encapsulated across all major grading companies. From a PCGS population of only three at this level, only one has been graded finer by PCGS! A near-prooflike example struck from recently "retired" proof dies. Even honey-gold surfaces burst with bright flashy luster. Reflective fields display slight orange-peel texture surrounding the well-struck devices retaining healthy frost. Die clashing is seen on both sides. In fact, the "chatter" seen on the reverse below the date is actually die-clashing from the obverse crown. If you look closely you can make out "Liberty" in the clashing! A very attractive and interesting example worthy of a high-end collection. - Gold Dollar
