The first proof-only year of Trade Dollars as the US was shifting its focus over to Morgan Dollar production. A mintage of 1,541 satisfied collector demand and leaves examples readily available. However, expertly preserved specimens, such as this, are scarce. PCGS lists only five graded finer for the designation and no DCAM examples numerically finer. Fascinating creamy silver centers fade into peach and then to lavender at the rims. Fully cameo in appearance and boasting impeccable flashy luster. One small planchet flaw at the obverse 3 o'clock rim serves as the identifier for this particular piece, yet no other flaws, marks, or abrasions are mentionable.
