From a somewhat impressive mintage of 148,000 pieces, this New Orleans Mint issue is still a difficult date to find, as only 200-250 pieces are believed extant, a tiny fraction of which survive in Mint State like this coin. The surfaces display bright yellow-gold mint frost over each side and display a repunched date - seen beneath the last two date digits.
