An elusive date and an exciting variety where the date digits were punched into the dies backward and upside down, then corrected by a Mint employee! Of the 16,700 Liberty Eagles minted this year, an unknown amount show the inverted date. It seems, however, that this variety is slightly rarer than the regular strike. As usual, the strike is quite weak, yet the three underlying digits can still be seen! We note a chip in the reverse edge rail of the holder. - Liberty Head $10
