1806 50C PCGS AU53 (O-106, Knob 6, Small Stars) ex: D.L. Hansen
In light of previous mintages, a hefty 839,576 half dollars were produced in 1806 of all varieties. There are sixteen examples of the major variety (Knob 6, Small Stars) graded finer with only two known in mint state. However, PCGS has graded just two finer for the Overton 106 variety, an AU55 and an AU58. It is a tough piece to find regardless if you are looking for the major variety or an Overton example. Sienna tones cling to the rims with light golden hues grading the lightly worn high points. Details are pleasing throughout and luster is strong. The reverse is shocking as it displays lovely prooflike surfaces, a razor-sharp strike, and flashes with outstanding luster. A lovely piece to behold, this will make a great addition to any collection. - Draped Bust Half Dollar
