From a low mintage of 63,500 pieces comes this lustrous conditional rarity. Most of this date were shipped overseas to China to help pay for silk and imported tea. A significant rarity, this date seems to be accepted as generally undervalued since the survival rate is so low. Most 1856 survivors are poorly struck and display central weakness and weak right side stars. The present piece is no exception and may actually be weaker than most, but the luster solidly lands this piece in uncirculated territory. - Liberty Seated Dollar
