A rare and exceptionally preserved example of the elusive and challenging 1860-D gold dollar! From a mintage of 1,566 pieces PCGS has graded just three finer than this registry worthy representative. Satiny smooth with rich orange-golden coloration throughout. The striking detail is generally sharp save for an area of bluntness on the lower right of the wreath on the reverse and at the obverse periphery where detail is characteristically incomplete for the issue, with the letter U in UNITED all but absent.
