A plentiful issue through AU, Mint State 1869-S double eagles are scarce and unlikely to be encountered above MS62. PCGS has graded just seven finer than the present offering and just two finer have earned CAC approval. Well-defined and bathed in an original honey-golden color with a pleasing gold-grey patina throughout. The luster is exceptional as it cartwheels around the coin in hand. The eye appeal is nice, especially considering the assigned grade. A very original example endorsed by CAC. - Liberty Head $20
