A hefty 839,576 half dollars were produced in 1806 of all varieties. One of the more interesting "overdates" in the series, the original 6 was errantly punched in upside down and was then covered by a correctly punched 6. This resulted in a variety that is easily visible and recognizable. With just five known in mint state condition, two have been graded finer than the present piece, both MS64. Electric blue, peach, and sea-green tones collide creating a lovely skin that is bolstered by strong luster. The right obverse and corresponding reverse suffer from a weak strike that leaves hazy details and subdued luster in that area. A pleasing piece that meets the grade and is solidly placed high in the condition census! - Draped Bust Half Dollar
